In Erinnerung an Þorbjörg Eyjólfsdóttir, die 1627 von Island nach Algier verschleppt wurde. Sie wurde nach 10 Jahren aus der Sklaverei frei gekauft.
Zurück in Island stickte sie als Dank ein aufwendiges Altartuch, das im Museum von Skógar, Island, zu sehen ist.
Es ist ein Symbol für das Überleben, die Beharrlichkeit und die Hoffnung.

In memory of Þorbjörg Eyjólfsdóttir, who was deported from Iceland to Algiers in 1627. She was sold off to slavery after 10 years.
Back in Iceland, she embroidered an elaborate altar cloth as a thank you, which can be seen in the museum of Skógar, Iceland.
It is a symbol of survival, perseverance and hope
